Steve's Doughnuts,a locally owned bakery completely dedicated to the joy of a delicious hand-crafted pastry and a good cup of coffee, is open in Suite #5. Owner Steve Pennington, a lifelong fan of doughnuts, left the high tech industry to get back to his roots in the kitchen. He scours the country for excellent pastry recipes but strives to source his ingredients as close to home as possible. "Flour from Eastern Washington wheat, eggs from Snohomish County, dairy from organic farms in Southwest Washington" Pennington says. "Our ultimate goal is to buy as much as possible from our neighbors and be able to tell our customers the names of the farmers who provided the ingredients. Yes, sugar will be hard." Beyond locally-grown, organic foods, Pennington is striving for all his baked goods to be vegetarian. "And we won't be producing any doughnuts with peanuts due to the prevalence of allergies in our community," he adds.
